Elder Ulisses Soares
A Higher and Holier Fast
Quorum of the Twelve
In brief
Elder Soares invites members to live the law of the fast "in a higher and holier way," drawing on Isaiah 58's promises that our light will break forth and the Lord will answer, "Here I am." Joined with earnest prayer, fasting humbles us, aligns our desires with God's will, and invites revelation, following the Savior's own 40-day fast. Fast offerings turn the fast outward to bless those in need, and he promises miracles and greater sensitivity to others to those who embrace it.
