Elder Clark G. Gilbert
Teach Truth with Love
Quorum of the Twelve
In brief
Elder Gilbert teaches that it takes courage to stand for truth and even more to stand for truth with love. Expanding on five principles from a devotional he gave with President Oaks, he counsels: avoid overly contentious settings, first find common ground, be a light, hold to truth even while reaching out, and stay anchored in Jesus Christ. He candidly recalls winning an argument with a hurting friend but losing the Spirit, and quotes President Holland that Christ never withheld His love yet never exempted anyone from His commandments.
